Youth Chorus to Perform Annual Spring Concert

The Quincy Area Youth Chorus will take the stage for their annual Spring Concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 20 at First Union Congregational Church.

The Kinderchor performance showcases Irish tunes including “Belle of Belfast,” “Riversong: A Celtic Celebration,” “Look to the Rainbow,” and “Look to the Sky.”  The Kinderchor includes singers in grades three through six and is conducted by Amy Fairchild and accompanied by Sarah Javaux.

The Concert Choir, singers in grades seven through 12, is conducted by Paul Shelor and accompanied by Mary Shelor. Their performance includes beautifully rendered songs of celebration and renewal.

Free-will donations will be collected at the door and are greatly appreciated. There will be a reception at the church following the performance.

Auditions for both choirs are held three times a year. Auditions may be scheduled by calling 217-222-2856. Tuition is free for students with financial need.  The QAYC is partially supported by QSOA, Encore! Symphony Volunteer Council, a grant from the Community Foundation from the Samantha Otte Youth Opportunity Fund and the Tracy Family Foundation. Additional support is provided by the Jayne & Leroy Boeckelman Fund for Young Musicians, the Katherine Broemmel Endowment for the Arts and the Alan L. & Mary Ellen Stiegemeier Fund Charitable Fund of the Community Foundation.
