Symphony Chorus Presents “Christmas Keepsakes”

The Quincy Symphony Chorus shares a nostalgic holiday setting at their “Christmas Keepsakes” Concert at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2 in Salem Church. The choristers are directed by Dr. Phyllis Robertson and accompanied by Becky White.

This celebration includes rich and deeply meaningful Christmas music including “Ceremony of Carols” by Benjamin Britten and “Merry Christmas, Darling,” a gentle holiday song made famous by The Carpenters. Instrument accompaniments add to the joyful atmosphere and include harp, oboe, flute, bassoon, brass and percussion.

Concert attendees are asked to bring non-perishable food to benefit the Lutheran Church of St. John Food Pantry.

The Symphony Chorus includes singers from all walks of life in Quincy and the surrounding area. Rehearsing on Monday evenings, the spring 2023 performances include the “Pop Music Legends” Concert on March 2 and a joint performance of “Carmina Burana” with the Quincy Symphony Orchestra and other choirs on April 20. Area singers are invited to audition for the spring chorus by contacting Dr. Robertson at 217-228-2866.
