Symphony Chorus to present Christmas Concert

The Quincy Symphony Chorus invites the public to celebrate the wondrous sounds of the season at their “On A Starry Night” Concert at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2 in Salem Church.

The joyful celebration includes “Mary’s Lullaby” by John Rutter. Composed in 1978, this sweet and tranquil carol includes oboe, flute, harp and string accompaniment. “See Amid the Winter’s Snow” is Dan Forrest’s tender arrangement of a classic English carol and features a string quartet and percussion.

The performance will also include “He is Born,” “Three Nativity Carols,” “Little Tree” and many other selections to create an inspiring and joy-filled Christmas event. Concert attendees will be given a holiday souvenir and are invited to a post-concert reception in the fellowship hall.

The choristers are directed by Dr. Phyllis Robertson and accompanied by Helen Rothfuss.

Children 18 and younger are free. Tickets are available in advance at www.qsoa.org, at HyVee, Sturhahn Jewelers and County Market in Quincy, County Market in Canton or at the door for $18 for adults and $15 for seniors. A special rate is available for church choirs or groups of 10 or more. To order group tickets by Nov. 30, call (217) 222-2856.
