The Quincy Symphony Orchestra Association invites area musicians to participate in its 75th Anniversary Concert Season. This is the perfect season to share your love of music while making new friends.
The QSOA includes:
The Quincy Symphony Chorus – a fun and talented group of musicians. Rehearsing on Monday evenings beginning in August, they will present concerts on Nov. 5 and March 4, 2023, and will join the Quincy Symphony on Dec. 3 for a family Christmas concert. Auditions are in-person with the director. To audition, prepare a song such as a hymn, patriotic song, or Christmas carol with music or from memory.
The Quincy Symphony Orchestra – exceptional instrumentalists from the region. The QSO rehearses on Tuesday evenings beginning in September. Performances will be Oct. 2, Dec. 3, Feb. 19, March 24 and April 22. Players are needed for all string sections, and additional brass, woodwind, and percussion players are needed for the substitute list. Musicians should prepare scales and a short solo that displays their musical strengths. Auditions will be Tuesday evening, August 23.
The Quincy Area Youth Chorus – children in grades 3-12. Accepted singers will perform at fall and spring concerts and at the Quincy Symphony’s Dec. 3 Christmas concert. Auditioning children should prepare a song they enjoy singing. QAYC includes girls, and boys with unchanged voices, in two performing groups: The Kinderchor for grades 3-6 and Concert Choir for grades 7-12. Rehearsals are Saturday mornings or Sunday afternoons. Auditions are in August, December and May.
The Quincy Area Youth Orchestra – musicians in grades 7-12 with at least three years of playing experience can audition for QAYO. Students should prepare material found on the youth orchestra page of qsoa.org, along with a solo of their choice. The QAYO rehearses weekly through March and performs in two concerts. Auditions are submitted by video. Membership is limited. Priority consideration for acceptance will be given to video auditions received by September 30th.
