The Quincy Symphony Orchestra celebrates the triumph of the human spirit through music and film scores that have inspired audiences for generations!
- Vangelis' "Chariots of Fire" theme and John Williams’ "Summon the Heroes" capture the determination and grace of Olympic athletes.
- The Monday Night Football theme “Heavy Action” is a bold, driving piece built on powerful brass and relentless rhythm.
- Trevor Rabin's "Remember the Titans" evokes unity in the face of adversity.
- Jerry Goldsmith’s "Hoosiers Suite" is a stirring tribute to underdog courage.
- This concert continues the QSO’s long-established tradition of featuring the winners of the Martha McCrory Young Artist Competition. In its 71st year, the competition provides outstanding high school musicians the opportunity to perform as concert soloists, accompanied by a symphony orchestra. Winners this year are Arrow Crist, piano, and Christopher Tu, oboe.
- The Quincy Area Youth Orchestra joins the QSO for a side-by-side performance of Brian Balmages’ “(Up)Lifted.” Written in 2021, as the name implies, the piece blends rhythmic drive with soaring melodies to create an atmosphere of optimism and forward momentum. QAYO Conductor Rich Cangro will direct the adult and youth musicians for this piece.
