Violin
Alex Malaimare is a distinguished musician with a celebrated career that spans captivating performances across Europe and the United States. He has studied under some of the world’s most esteemed musicians, supported by a prestigious scholarship from the SoNoRo Chamber Music Workshops. Alex’s talent has earned him top honors in major competitions, including the Young Artist Competition of the Music Teachers National Association and the University of Illinois Concerto Competition.
As a member of his acclaimed quartet, Alex has won accolades at the Plowman Chamber Music Competition and the New York Artists International Competition, culminating in a performance at Carnegie Hall. His orchestral leadership and teaching roles have included positions as an Adjunct Instructor of Violin at the University of Illinois Springfield and the University of Evansville.
Passionate about broadening his musical horizons, Alex explores various genres, from traditional Romanian fiddle music to movie soundtracks. He had the unique opportunity to participate in a live cinema workshop with the legendary Francis Ford Coppola. Active on social media, Alex shares his musical journey with a global audience.
Currently, Alex is a faculty member at Millikin University, where he inspires and mentors the next generation of musicians. He performs on an Ultralight violin crafted by the renowned luthier Joseph Curtin. Starting in Fall 2024, Alex will join Marshall University as an Assistant Professor of Violin, continuing his commitment to excellence in music education and performance.
