Youth Chorus To Hold Auditions Saturday, December 12th

Auditions for the Quincy Area Youth Chorus Concert Choir and Kinderchor will be held Saturday, December 12, beginning at 10 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 333 S. 36th Street in Quincy.

Founded in 1995, QAYC is a performing organization within the Quincy Symphony Orchestra Association. An educational outreach program, QAYC supplements school and church choral training with focused preparation and performance of excellent treble chorus literature. Young singers from a 75-mile radius of Quincy perform twice a year as an ensemble in concerts in the fall and spring, and often sing combined works with the Quincy Symphony Orchestra. The QAYC will join the Symphony Chorus on April 17th for the performance with the orchestra of Karl Jenkins’ “The Peacemakers” in the Morrison Theater.

The QAYC includes girls and boys with unchanged voices, and consists of two performing groups. The Kinderchor for the younger singers is directed by Jessi Sparks. The Concert Choir for older members is directed by Paul Shelor. Rehearsals are held either on Saturday mornings or Sunday afternoons.

Auditioning children should prepare a song they enjoy singing. Please call the Quincy Symphony office, 217-222-2856, to sign up for an audition time. Additional information is available at www.qsoa.org.
